Non Fumer
Posted on | April 15, 2008
It’s been two weeks yesterday since my last cigarette. Well that’s not entirely true but the last cigarette from a pack that I’ve bought.
I did have two in Spain1 and a couple of puffs on the day I got back. Literally two puffs.
So did it surprise me when I got on the bus and I could tell who was a smoker and who wasn’t?
People at work looked at me and said one of two things.
1. “You look great.”
2. “You look different.”
And I feel different. I feel better. I don’t get as winded and I feel five years younger and all this in two weeks.
Now I don’t want to become one of those rabid non-smokers who can’t stand being around them because I’ve dealt with them in the past. And let me tell you, nothing is as annoying as a reformed smoker.
Also, if I ever fall off the wagon, they’ll be the first to string me up by my testicles. So I don’t want to burn any bridges.
But to those of you out there, if you’re thinking it’s time to stop, trust me, do it. It does feel so good. Go see your Doctor. See if you’re compatible with “Champix” 2.
Also, I’ve calculated it out.
| SMOKES | $9.50 |
| WEEK | x 7 |
| TOTAL | $66.50 |
| 2 WEEKS | x 2 |
| TOTAL | $133.00 |
I can’t believe that I had spent that much money on cigarettes per week. Now, that’s just two weeks. So now we’re dealing with $266.00 a month. How on bloody earth did I afford that with my salary?
Oh the things I could have bought, the savings I’d still have.
I’m damned proud of myself. I just need to keep it up.
